Chaz Davies satisfied with 250 debut

British youngster Chaz Davies spent the winter combining studies for his GCSE exams with preparations of a completely different kind, as he plots his first season in the 250cc World Championship. The 15 year old got his first taste of the quarter-litre Aprilia in private tests at Jerez last weekend and after a successful three days aboard the machine he believes this season will be a much more productive experience than his rookie year in the 125 category.

´I know the circuits already after last year so that will be a big help, now I just need to adapt my riding style to the extra power of the 250,´ he explained. `So far I have been pleasantly surprised by it, and I didn´t expect to be so comfortable so early. It is very different through the corners but the most noticeable thing for me is that with a 125 there is only one good line, but with the 250 you can vary it quite a bit´.

The youngster, who turns 16 next month, added that the bigger bike was more suitable for his gangly frame: ´I have felt a lot more comfortable on the 250 because I was really too squashed on the 125 and had to force my shoulders into position. So from a physical aspect I have felt good on the bike right from the start and that should prove to be really important as I learn to ride the bike´.
