Camier enjoys first test with Racing Service

British youngster Leon Camier this week got his first taste of track action with his new Racing Service team at private tests in Jerez. The 16 year old rookie rode the 125 Honda for the first time, sharing the track with a number of other Grand Prix riders including 250cc World Championship contender Roberto Rolfo. Although the team have yet to take delivery of a new engine, Camier was able to complete some work on the chassis set-up and his first impressions were positive.

`The team were excellent and they gave me everything I asked of them,´ said Camier. `We had a few setbacks but we were definitely getting there by the end of the test. Obviously it didn´t help that we had the old engine from the start, but then I had a crash and somehow managed to put the foot peg through the swingarm. Also it was my first time at Jerez in two and a half years, so basically the lap times were way off, but we made good progress and the relationship with the team was more than I could have hoped for, so all in all the test was a success´.

Camier is now looking forward to his next test with a brand new engine, scheduled for Misano on the 3rd and 4th March, when he hopes to get up to speed with some impressive rivals. `There were some quick lads down in Jerez, especially the Spanish boys Bautista and Miralles, who were on top Aprilias and looked very fast. The one who really blew me away though was Rolfo – those 250s are unbelievable when they go past you and he was riding it hard.´
