MotoGP fever warms up with Suzuka presentation in Tokyo

With just under two months remaining before the start of the MotoGP World Championship, feverish preparations for the first Grand Prix of the new season at Suzuka are well underway in Japan. The traditional presentation for the world´s press took place in Tokyo and was attended by representatives of MotoGP and the Suzuka circuit, as well as key personalities from Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Aprilia, - including Tohru Ukawa, Daijiro Kato, Garry McCoy, Noriyuki Haga, Makoto Tamada and Akira Yanagawa.

The presentation provided the perfect opportunity for the Suzuka officials to describe in detail the modifications made to the track, which should be completed by the end of February. It was also announced that tickets for the event will be on sale from Saturday, and that the MotoGP teams will have chance to test at the reformed circuit on the 30th and 31st March.

$$$ The news delighted the riders, who were also happy to discuss their preseason training. `So far everything has gone well,´ commented Ukawa. `Next week I will be using my new bike and my intention is to win as many races as possible with it.´ Meanwhile Ukawa´s compatriot Kato expressed his disappointment at not winning any races last year and vowed: `This year my objective is to win races, and I would like the first victory to be at Suzuka.´

Australia´s McCoy discussed the progression of the new Kawasaki: `For the moment the tests have revealed positive and negative things, but I am convinced things are progressing in the right direction. I like to ride with an aggressive style and that wasn´t feasible in the first test, but it is all a question of getting the right set-up and now we are starting to get good feedback´.
