Takahashi heads strong wildcard line-up at Suzuka

Yuki Takahashi, the Japanese youngster who shot to prominence with a stunning podium ride at Motegi last October, will be back to haunt the 250cc World Championship regulars when the series gets underway at Suzuka on April 6. The Honda rider, who took third place behind Toni Elias and Marco Melandri on his Grand Prix debut, heads a typically strong wildcard pack which has been revealed on the provisional entry list for the SKYY Vodka Grand Prix of Japan.

Although last year´s surprise packages Osamu Miyazaki and Daisaku Sakai, who stormed to first and second place in torrential conditions, will not be present for a repeat performance, there is plenty of Grand Prix pedigree in the shape of Tekkyu Kayoh, who has made several appearances since scoring points on his debut in 1999, Hiroshi Aoyama, who has scored points on four out of five wildcard appearances with a best finish of eighth at Motegi in 2000, and Katsuyuki Nakasuga, who finished twelfth at Motegi 2002. Tomoyoshi Kaoyama will be making his Grand Prix debut.

Kayoh, Nakasuga and Kaoyama will all be riding Yamaha machinery, whilst Takahashi and Aoyama will be back with Honda.
