Poggiali´s title charge beginning to gather momentum

Manuel Poggiali broke several records a few weeks ago in Suzuka when he proved to be victorious on his 250cc debut starting from 23rd place on the grid. Now the young rider from San Marino has made another small entry in the history books by being the first man in the modern era to hold a 100% wins-to-appearance ratio with his second and dominant success in Welkom yesterday. Here is what the former 125cc World Champ had to say about his perfect start to 2003:

´I hope to be like this for the whole Championship! It´s like a dream! This is a magic moment and I want to thank Aprilia and the whole team as my bike today was incredible. We worked a lot during the weekend but at the end I was more competitive than the others.´

´During the last laps I push very hard but De Puniet was right there. That´s why I had to keep my concentration because I knew I was close to the finish. When I looked behind me I knew that I was faster than him in the first part of the track and maybe he was better than me in the last two corners. So I pushed extra hard on the last lap to try and make a little gap.´

´These two victories are fantastic but this race has been harder than the Japanese one. I do not want to make any predictions for the world title but I feel confident and have a great feeling with the bike and the team; now it´s necessary to get more experience for the future. This could be an exciting year for me!´
