Defending World Champion Arnaud Vincent finished 12th in the Arnette Africa´s Grand Prix took the KTM Red Bull Team into the World Championship points in just their second Grand Prix.

The result was an impressive achievement for the new KTM 125cc grand prix project with both bikes completing the race distance in hot and humid conditions. The result is a confidence boost in advance of the Spanish GP at Jerez where both riders will benefit from having a spare machine each as KTM continue to devote increased resources. Over the next two weeks Harald Bartol will continue the test bench development program to gain more power and speed from the KTM motor.

´In the first lap I was delayed by Corsi whose bike was a little faster and I lost contact with the leading group,´ remarked the Frenchman. ´It was difficult as I was riding alone. The bike felt good but now we need more driveability off the turns and higher top speed. Scoring points is a reward for the KTM Red Bull team for all of their hard work.´

Teammate Roberto Locatelli finished the race again but like in Japan was out of the points zone, he crossed the line in 28th with some minor technical problems. ´I was not very happy with the setting of my machine and it lacked acceleration off the turns and top speed in the straights. I hope for a better result in Jerez when I will have a second machine to work with,´ he commented.

´It was a perfect result to achieve our goal of completing the race distance with two bikes,´ said Bartol. ´Scoring points in only our second race gives us the motivation to make further progress in the coming GPs.´
