Alex Debón high on form and fitness

I have just finished my training session now, with one of my usual bicycle routines and I feel in good shape, completely recovered from the injuries I sustained in Le Mans. As you know I crashed in the Friday session and injured my ankle, cracking a bone, and I had to race in some pain. Despite this I was really satisfied with how the weekend ended because I got my best result of the season so far.

The race wasn´t easy. It felt like it would never end because I was in so much pain and in fact I was making mistakes because it was left leg which of course I use to change gears. However, I was able to maintain my rhythm and make a good comeback. I really didn´t expect such a good result so soon in the season, especially considering that the machine is still not completely evolved.

I am really looking forward to Mugello but I know things will be tough there. The track is like a test bench for Aprilia and they have their set-up sorted out virtually before they arrive. The Hondas have a disadvantage at this circuit, especially the private machines. We are hoping that HRC give us some new material – maybe a new cylinder or some improvement in acceleration, although it is unlikely this will arrive before Catalunya and, as you know, Mugello has a really long straight where top speed is vital.

In any case my moral is high because, apart from in South Africa, things are going well for me and both the team and the sponsors are happy. I am on track to be in the top ten and at least be the best privateer in the category.
