Pedrosa looking to break from the pack

After six rounds of the 2003 season Spanish youngster Dani Pedrosa is threatening to make one of his customary breaks from the pack in the 125cc World Championship. It was at Assen one year ago where Pedrosa finally fulfilled his enormous potential and left the rest of the field trailing in his wake with an awe-inspiring ride to his debut victory, leading from pole position to the chequered flag. After taking three wins already this season he now holds a 25 point advantage at the top of the rider standings over nearest rival Lucio Cecchinello, and will be looking to extend that with a repeat performance at the Dutch TT.

The Italian veteran retired from the last round in Catalunya with a mechanical fault, and knows he needs a big result this weekend to compensate for the consistency of the teenager, who has only missed the podium on two occasions this year. Pedrosa´s continually improving form is also extinguishing the threat from further down the order, where Steve Jenkner was making a challenge with a series of top three finishes which handed him the championship lead after three rounds. However, Jenkner is now 43 points off the pace in third place and is still searching for his first Grand Prix victory.
