Quotes from the provisional front row

Valentino Rossi (1st): ` That was a pretty good first day – better than last year at least. We still need to do much more work to find the best tyre but we are in a good position. We also need to work hard to find the right gearing as at the moment aI have a wheelie problem. Especially coming out of the slow parts of the circuit – like the loop and onto the start/finish straight. We will talk to the team tonight and will work hard for tomorrow and for the race on Sunday´.

Troy Bayliss (2nd): `Overall the bike feels good, I feel really comfortable on it. We seem to have a base setting which is pretty good everywhere, and I like this place, even though I've never won a race here. The plan for tomorrow is to work some more on grip – this isn't the grippiest track in the world..´.

Sete Gibernau (3rd): `Today there were thirteen riders within one second and the top four under last year´s pole, so the level is very high and it is important not to lose concentration. Tomorrow we will continue working in the same way in order to defend our front row position´.

Carlos Checa (4th): `As we did at Assen two weeks ago we decided to start from the same base setting as the previous race, in order to minimise the changes and consolidate the work we have already done. The result was good, even though in the afternoon we lost a bit of time testing tyres which didn't work too great because the track has less grip´.
