Quotes from the front row at Donington Park

Max Biaggi, pole position:

"Yesterday I was trying to set the bike up and remained in the top three until the last 7 or 8 minutes so my speed is already pretty good here. My race set-up was so-so but we improved things a lot this morning and I was regularly under '31 using a race tyre so I am happy. I could have maybe gone faster but I made a mistake on my last lap. I hope it will be hot tomorrow; perhaps this is my best chance of taking a win so far. I am full of confidence and want to have fun."

Sete Gibernau, 2nd position:

"We have had a few problems with the factory bike and working with our dry set-up. The main area is with the throttle in relation to the rear tyre and how that is affecting the front end. Everything is fine in the wet but we need to reform it for the dry. It is important to be on the front row. I was trying for pole but Max was a bit faster this afternoon. Everybody's laptimes are impressive and it's not only about the Hondas; it will be a hard race tomorrow because we are so close."

Marco Melandri, 3rd position:

"Today was great! I was surprised when I saw my time. I am excited to be in third and thought at the time that the lap might have put me on the front row. The team have given me a good bike and I have excellent feeling with it; we are still improving a lot but I am happy to be here. My rhythm is not bad but we will see what happens tomorrow; I will be doing my best for sure."

Valentino Rossi, 4th position:

"Five minutes from the end of the session my front wheel developed a small crack which made the tyre lose pressure and become flat. I could feel that the bike was very heavy on the circuit so I pulled in. There are 5 or 6 riders with a very good rhythm for the race and I think that tomorrow will be a good battle."
