Honda head to Brno for tests

Repsol Honda will try to forget a day of elation that very quickly became flat last Sunday after Valentino Rossi's British GP win was reduced to a third place finish when he passed Loris Capirossi while yellow flags were being waved, by heading to Brno for testing this week.

The decision by the race officials moved the Italian down the podium and gave Max Baggi his first win of the season. Rossi, who claims that he didn't see the flags being waved as he was on the other side of the Ducati, was escorted to the office to view the incident numerous times on video replays and conceded that it was an unfortunate but also an unintentional manoeuvre.

´The final result of the race is disappointing for me,´ he said. ´I was on a fast lap and never saw the flags. I did nothing wrong intentionally. I am disappointed but the rules are the rules and I can't argue with the law. I didn't take advantage of the situation and went on to win the race. I only hope the outcome of the race doesn't affect the Championship in the end. I feel clear in myself. I won a hard fought clean race. I race on the track –not in the office.´

Rossi's team-mate Nicky Hayden had a solid ride to 8th as he continues his MotoGP education is his rookie season. The American scored his fourth top ten finish of the season at Donington Park.

´I have to say I was expecting more today,´ he remarked. ´I thought I had a little bit more speed than that especially as things felt so good this morning in the warm-up. In the last laps the rear brake gave up and I had no confidence in braking. I used the rear brake a lot - especially round here to try and keep the front wheel on the ground. Overall the weekend was OK and things seem to be coming better. We're off the Brno to test next week. Hopefully picking things up all the time.´

Yamaha are also expected to test ahead of the Grand Prix of Germany and the last race before the small summer break.
