Quotes from the provisional front row

Valentino Rossi (1st): "We have a big job to make the best tyre selection with Michelin because this circuit is very hard on tyres. At the end we are quite happy but we are not at 100%. We need to improve a little bit more tomorrow. One of the bikes had the loud and new exhaust system, but basically at the moment it doesn´t give any advantage. I´m feeling a little better myself and my cold is improving.

Max Biaggi (2nd): "That was okay for now. I´m really close to the pole time and so tomorrow we can have the real battle for the pole. Today I was working mainly on race set-up which is the most important thing, then I tried to go for a good time and that went pretty well because the settings proved good enough. I like this track, things feel good here and if we can keep this up, then I´m optimistic about race day.

Jeremy McWilliams (3rd): "I don't think we're going to be able to go much faster tomorrow. We know this bike so well that we can find the limit pretty quickly. I was flat out in fourth gear when I had a little slip on the left-hander at the top of the hill. I saved it, but basically ran out of track. I thought as I was flying through the air: This is going to hurt! I almost did the same thing at the same place at the end of the session, but this time I had a miracle save.

Carlos Checa (4th): " From the very beginning we worked with the same base set-up we found at Assen and we made minimal changes so as not to get lost. The only thing I need now is to keep the front wheel down more so I have more feeling on the front end.
