Norick Abe leads junior riding course at Suzuka

Norick Abe was at the Suzuka 8 hour race at the weekend as he took charge of a one off riding school for kids. Entrance to the course was free and the only pre-requisite for budding youngsters to get tips from one of their country's most famous sport stars was that they were between five and ten years of age, could ride a bicycle without stabilisers and were accompanied by a parent.

"In Japan there are less and less youngsters getting involved in motorcycles,"explained Abe, who is this season working as a test rider for Yamaha. "I want to spread the word that motorcycle riding is fun – I started when I was five years old and I have enjoyed it ever since. We have provided all the necessary material so that people can bring their children here and try it out for themselves without any cost."
