Arnaud Vincent preparing to turn a new page in Estoril

Arnaud Vincent has declared that he is ready to turn a new page in his career and put a nightmare season with KTM behind him. The reigning World Champion was sacked by the Austrian manufacturer after the ninth round of the season at the Sachsenring but has since signed for Sterilgarda Racing as a replacement for Youichi Ui and will make his debut at Estoril next weekend.

"I have signed a contract for the remainder of the season with Sterilgarda Racing and we have spoken about the possibility of contesting the 250cc World Championship next season," confirmed the Frenchman, who will be back on an Aprilia for the first time since winning the title at Valencia last November. "I was talking to several different teams at Brno but went for this option because it is an official Aprilia with parts from last season – including the chassis – so I will be familiar with the bike straight away. I also have a good relationship with Jan Witteven, Technical Director of Aprilia."

After weeks of specualtion since his controversial sacking by KTM, Vincent is now looking forward to the future. "KTM were not happy with my work and they decided to get rid of me. It was their choice, nothing else. In any case it is not a major drama – I would prefer to concentrate on what is left of the season. Obviously there is still a long way to go in the championship and I will be looking for good results to compensate for the first half of the season."

"I am sure that in Estoril it will be a little difficult because it is never easy to just switch from one bike to another but I am hoping to find my feeling quickly with the Aprilia and start to pick up some positive finishes."
