Quotes from the front row

Valentino Rossi (1st): "Our work here is very good. We are very constant on the bike and I feel good without the pressure of the championship. We have a good set-up and it is possible to set a high rhythm. Tomorrow will be a tough race, for sure. The Ducatis are going very well and there is a lot of competition from the other Hondas. It should be a great battle – hopefully the weather stays as nice as it was today."

Loris Capirossi (2nd): "I used the same tyre throughout the session and ran a good race pace, only fitting a qualifier at the very end. The fact that both Troy and I are on the front row confirms how far the bike has come over the last ten months. I think we can use this as a reference point to work from in the future. I have only one worry about tomorrow… the rain."

Sete Gibernau (3rd): "After crashing yesterday and not completing all the work we had planned, we have made up for lost time. We have worked towards the race, focussing on the set-up of the bike and tyre choice. I completed a lot of laps on the race tyre and once I found a good rhythm and felt comfortable I put on a softer compound and set the third fastest time. I am feeling positive about tomorrow. I have been a little bit dizzy today and we have a couple of things to improve in the warm-up tomorrow morning, but I am starting from the front row and I am looking forward to the race." Troy Bayliss (4th): "My race pace is not as good as some guys but I think we should go alright tomorrow. The crash came because I was trying a harder front tyre and probably pushed it a bit too much. I haven't come off that fast for a while! Tomorrow I want to finish in front of Ukawa and Hayden for the championship - anything above that will be a bonus."
