Red Bull Rookies to step up to national championship

Toni Wirsing and Meik Minneropp, the top two riders in this year's Red Bull Rookies to MotoGP competition, have been selected to contest the 125cc German Championship (IDM) in 2004 as part of the Honda ADAC team. The riders, both aged 13, enjoyed an entertaining battle for the title in the series designed to uncover new racing talent in Germany, with Wirsing victorious after taking four wins.

The youngsters follow in the footsteps of Georg Fröhlich and Matti Seidel, who made the step up this season with ADAC Honda after standing out in the 2002 version of the series. Their preparations for the 2004 season will begin next month, when they will ride their new machines for the first time in the final two rounds of the 125cc Spanish Championship.
