Arnaud Vincent still hoping to find a 250cc ride for 2004

Arnaud Vincent still has yet to fulfil his desire of finding a saddle and team for a campaign in the 250cc World Championships for 2004. The 125cc World Champ in 2002, expressed his desire to make the jump up to the quarter-litre classification at the end of this season (that he disastrously started with KTM and finished on a lukewarm note with the Sterilgarda Aprilia set-up), but his negotiations to-date still have not led to an open door and he is facing the prospect of an off-season without a team.

"At the moment I have nothing," confirmed the Frenchman who turned 29 years old yesterday. "I have to find a sponsor and then sort out a budget. Without any money it is hard to secure a place in a team and the later it gets the less opportunities there will be. I was speaking at one stage with the Campetella team but finally we could not come to an agreement," he revealed. "Obviously the fact that I have not got any backers yet is affecting the situation. It is a problem that all French riders have; in my country it is very difficult to find sponsorship and this always complicates things for us."

Vincent has a chance to accept an official ride for the 2004 125 series but is still doing all that he can to find a way into the 250 class: `I have an option to ride a factory Honda in the 125s, in an Italian team but my goal is to try for the 250cc title in the future and to do this I need to explore the chances of getting into the category as soon as possible. In whatever case I hope to make a decision about my future at the end of the week."
