Roberto Locatelli was one of numerous Italian riders to have attended the recent Bologna Motorshow and to also have participated in certain events on display. This time the new Oxydo Aprilia rider was given two more wheels than usual and guided to a small circuit within the fairground arena. The former 125cc World Champion was an entrant in a Karting race long with some of his GP peers such as Loris Capirossi and retired rider Loris Reggiani. Also participating was ex Indy car Champ Alex Zanardi, who lost both legs after a serious accident in 2001 at the Lausitzring circuit. Locatelli was quick to pay homage to attitude displayed by the driver:

"To drive against Alex Zanardi was something incredible, I can't describe the emotions that I had sharing the track with him and what spirit he has after coming so close to dying with that accident," explained Locatelli. "I have only just recently read his book and what he went through really touched me. Alex transmitted to me a tremendous will to live with the way he returned back to a normal way of life without losing any or his humour or irony. It is strange, because I felt like I was the one who had suffered; before me was a man who fought and continues to fight everyday to give hope. I want to thank him for the example he sets. Alex you are a great man!"

Locatelli will be back in action upon the Aprilia at the end of January for tests at Jerez and then further sessions at the circuit in Southern Spain in February along with days pencilled in at Catalunya.
