Last year at Brno

Dani Pedrosa kept his head and extended his World Championship lead by five points over Stefano Perugini with his fourth victory of the season at Brno last year. The young Spaniard completed a mature and confident performance in the last third of the Grand Prix, comfortably leading Perugini all the way to the line after a typically combative opening.

Pole position holder Alex De Angelis suffered a mechanical problem in the first corner and dropped back to 13th, but mounted a strong fight-back to claim the final spot on the podium in third place.

Turn one was again the place for everybody's attention a few laps into the race when Lucio Cecchinello's Aprilia seized while leading and the resultant crash scooped up the luck-less Steve Jenkner dumping both riders in the gravel.

A similar but much more spectacular incident occurred minutes later between Thomas Luthi and Pablo Nieto. This time it was Nieto who went down and Luthi had nowhere to go but launch off the horizontal machine in front of him.

Elsewhere, Mika Kallio scored his best ever result in fourth place on his KTM debut ahead of Hector Barbera and Andrea Dovisiozo.
