Gibernau leads Honda rally in FP2

Sete Gibernau led a strong response from Honda to Valentino Rossi's provisional pole position with the fastest time in the second free practice session for the Cinzano Australian Grand Prix. Rossi was the lone Yamaha in the top six, lapping 0.015 seconds short of Gibernau and followed closely by a hunting pack of Max Biaggi, Nicky Hayden, Alex Barros and Colin Edwards.

Alex de Angelis was again impressive in the 250cc class, dominating for much of the session, but was upstaged by Sebastián Porto, who stamped his authority with a lap of 1'32.935 – even quicker than the provisional pole time set by the San Marino youngster yesterday. Title hopeful Dani Pedrosa was third fastest.

Former 125cc World Champion Roberto Locatelli was fastest in the minor class, making the most of the improved weather conditions to lap just outside Pedrosa's lap record.
