KTM, last year´s 125cc World Constructors Champions, are carrying out an intense and productive preseason, with a chance for the public to see the progress in two weeks´ time at the team´s first 2006 test in Estoril.

KTM are sending all their squadron to undertake three days of practice at the scene of the Portuguese GP, which they will commence on February 15th. The test will also be a chance to see the new rider partnerships for 125cc and 250cc. In the lower class 2005 runner up Mika Kallio will join up with Spaniard Julián Simón, whilst in the quarter litre category Manuel Poggiali and Hiroshi Aoyama will be the official KTM duo.

The young riders from the new junior Red Bull KTM project will also be present. Stefan Bradl and Michael Ranseder- next year´s World Championship competitors- and the new riders from the German Championship in Randy Krummenacher and Robin Lässer.

Pit Beirer, KTM´s Head of Communication, has revealed to the final nuances that the team are working on during this preseason. He also set the goals that the Central European constructor will hope to achieve in the coming World Championship.

`Our first target for 2006 is to be competitive with our top riders and to fight for the title. Also we are very proud to bring two riders from our own junior program to the world championship. We want to guide them carefully and build them up for the future. There is no pressure for results, but we ask them to work seriously and to give 100% for the sport´ he commented, whilst also adding:

`We are all realistic at KTM and we know about the strong competition´.

The KTM man also spoke about the adjustments made to the 2006 bike in the garage.

`We are working very hard on the bike right now and we will come with a brand new chassis. While testing in the wind tunnel we modified our fairing slightly, but very effectively. We all know Harald Bartol, he never stops developing the engine, so also on that side of things we are ready for the season´.
