Angaia Racing announce new rider Luca Morelli

After a period of uncertainty over Angaia Racing's 2006 lineup, the Italian team have announced debutante Luca Morelli as their new rider in the 250cc category. Angaia's previous agreement, with Frenchman Jules Cluzel, fell through with his decision to ride for Equip GP de France-Scrab.

The decision was taken by Angaia after evaluating several possible representatives, in the end opting for Morelli. Olivier Ligeois gave the all clear to sign an inexperienced rider who only turned 18 in December, but who has definite potential.

The final two races of the Italian Championship and the European Championship are Morelli´s only Grands Prix to date. However he earned a podium place in these four races, something Angaia hope he can continue with in the World Championship during the second half of the season.

"Luca is physically prepared, and that is very important because the World Championship is hardly a stroll in the park. We are convinced that with all the team at his disposal he will be able to overcome his inexperience without excessive difficulty" explained team boss Paolo Tajana.

Morelli will debut with his new team at the Catalunya and Jerez Tests in March.
