Di Meglio heads wet 125cc morning session

Mike di Meglio took the fastest time on a wet Sachsenring circuit on Saturday morning.

125cc World Championship leader Mike di Meglio was the fastest around a soaking Sachsenring circuit on Saturday morning, in the second and final free practice session for the class in the run-up to the Alice Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland.

The Frenchman headed a tightly-packed top ten with a 1´36.218 lap, although the rainfall wasn´t all good news for the wet weather expert: he rounds off the provisional second row after a dry qualifying session on Friday afternoon, and there will be little chance for improvement if conditions stay the same.

Bradley Smith was the closest to Di Meglio´s marker, just 0.014 down on the Ajo Motorsport rider. Smith suffered a crash during the session on his Polaris World Aprilia.

Third on the timesheet was Repsol KTM´s Marc Marquez, ahead of home wildcard Marcel Schrotter and title contender Simone Corsi as part of a first five separated by less than a tenth of a second.

Corsi´s Jack&Jones WRB teammate Nico Terol and provisional poleman Gabor Talmacsi also featured in the top ten, along with Efren Vazquez, Michael Ranseder and Dominique Aegerter.
