Iannone heads 125cc IMS Warmup

Andrea Iannone was the fastest 125cc rider in the lower cylinder category warmup session.

Second row starter Andrea Iannone opened the Sunday action in Indianapolis with the fastest time in the 125cc warmup, which took place under dry conditions at The Brickyard. The I.C. Team rider recorded a time of 1´50.815 –a lap that would have put the Italian third on the grid had it come yesterday afternoon.

Polaris World´s Bradley Smith was just 0.065 down on Iannone´s time, with the Briton having to take off from row three in the morning race. The top six were separated by less than two-tenths of a second, with series leader Mike di Meglio and his fellow front row starter Stefan Bradl sandwiching Scott Redding and coming in only slightly faster than home rider Stevie Bonsey.

There was a crash for Michael Ranseder during the session, leaving the Austrian with just one lap on the board.
