Talmacsi: “We’ll only know how fast we are in Jerez”

Talmacsi: “We’ll only know how fast we are in Jerez”

Hungarian expects Official Test to show his potential in 250cc class.

Gabor Talmacsi will continue his adaptation to the 250cc class in two weeks time at a test in Portugal -set to be heavily attended by his quarter-litre competition- but the Hungarian only expects to see the true state of the category become apparent at the following test at Jerez.

The former 125cc World Champion has been in strong form since the turn of the year, looking ever more comfortable on ‘Vikki’ –his new Aprilia RSA. Learning the bike and recuperating from his wrist injury have been priorities for Talmacsi over the winter months, and he will be expected to push for the podium in his rookie 250cc season. The Spanish test will show just how capable he will be of achieving that goal.

"It’s still early to see how quick we are able to go. The adaptation is going fantastically, and we will carry on working at each test in order to get better," says the 28 year-old. "I suppose that in Jerez, when all the 250cc riders will get on track, is when we will be able to see what level we are at and to what we can aspire."

The prior Portuguese visit will take place from March 15th-17th, over a month since his last outing at Valencia, and Talmacsi is eager to get back on the bike.

"I am really looking forward to Estoril, because the countdown to the new season has really started. I will be giving my all to see if I am ready to go yet. I’m hoping for a good start to the season, as Qatar is one of my favourite tracks."
