Simon continues testing form on Thursday

Spanish star heads 125cc timesheet on day two in Jerez.

After two days of 125cc riding at the MotoGP Official Test in Jerez, Julián Simón continues to impose his will on the lower cylinder category. The Spaniard was on top form once again on Thursday, recording the quickest time of the day with a 1’47.465 lap onboard his Aprilia RSA.

The Bancaja Aspar rider was unable to lower his storming time from Wednesday, although neither of his rivals were able to beat the marker either. Simón was less than a tenth of a second ahead of Andrea Iannone with Marc Marquez close behind on the second day of testing, and appears to be more consistent than either rider so far in southern Spain.

Simón’s teammate Bradley Smith, Derbi rider Pol Espargaró and sophomore rider Takaaki Nakagami were the only other riders to breach the 1’48 barrier.

There was no place for the likes of expected title challengers Stefan Bradl and Simone Corsi in the top ten, with Bradl only performing 2 laps in the afternoon session after a difficult morning run. The remainder of the front ten on the timesheet instead featured Sandro Cortese, Éfren Vazquez, Joan Olivé and Scott Redding.

125cc testing concludes on Friday in Jerez.
