Debutant Fagerhaug feeling the difference

Norwegian gets to grips with factory KTM for wildcard appearance.

Winner of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup race at Jerez, Norwegian rider Sturla Fagerhaug gets his shot at the big time this weekend in France. The teenage talent makes his World Championship debut in Sunday’s 125cc race at Le Mans, under the guidance of the Red Bull KTM team.

Fagerhaug had the difficult task of learning the factory KTM bike on a damp, cold track on Friday afternoon. Nonetheless, he left his first practice session content and with the expectation of an informative few days.

“For sure I saw how quick the pace is in the World Championship!” said the youngster after FP1. “I can learn from everybody here, from the fast riders to the experienced team that is helping me out. It’s a big step up.

“The chassis of this bike is new, but the engine is the main difference from the Rookies bike. We can do a lot more changes with it, though, so it should go a lot better when we have it fully set up to my liking,” he concluded.
