Francesco Bagnaia remains with MAPFRE Team Mahindra

Francesco Bagnaia remains with MAPFRE Team Mahindra

It has been announced that ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia will remain with the Aspar squad in 2016.

Bagnaia is seen as one of the most promising riders not only for Italy, but also for the Mahindra factory. Earlier in the year Pecco was able to claim a podium finish at the French GP and has regularly been challenging the top ten. Another highlight of Bagnaia’s season came with a fourth place finish in Mugello.

The Aspar team has introduced a level of stability and professionalism that the young Italian desperately needed and the two have continued to improve since the pre-season. After 12 strong rounds the two parties have decided to seal their commitment together for another year. Jorge Martinez ‘Aspar’, leader of the Aspar team, is are of Pecco’s potential and has put all available resources into keeping him on for 2016.

Jorge Martinez: “Keeping Pecco was essential for us for next year. In 2015 he has already starred in many races and been close to tasting victory. He eventually secured his first podium with us. The goal is to continue in the same way, it’s clear there’s much work ahead but we believe in this great pilot. I hope we have enormous joy for the remainder of the season and can be fighting on a regular basis next year. He has grown tremendously since joining MAPFRE Team Mahindra and increased his confidence. We have had setbacks but there is no doubt Pecco is a potential race winner.”

Francesco Bagnaia: “I am very happy to renew with MAPFRE Team Mahindra for next year, they’re a very competitive team. I am onvinced that continuing our union will bring good results in the future. We have already achieved great things this year, but next season we will aim higher. Mahindra are working hard on future evolution. I’m very pleased to be able to stay with the Aspar squad, spending two years with the same team gives you a lot of stability. In 2016 we start with a good base and perfect harmony, a big advantage. Together with this team I achieved my first World Championship podium, a sign of our competitiveness.”
