Crutchlow: ‘I took risk at right time’

The Silverstone circuit was buzzing despite the rain on Saturday afternoon as British LCR Honda rider took pole

Following his superb maiden MotoGP™ win in the Czech Republic two weeks ago Cal Crutchlow’s excellent form continued on Saturday at the Octo British Grand Prix, as he took pole position in front of the soaked home fans in an exciting and difficult Q2 session.

Crutchlow has demonstrated good pace at his home GP throughout the weekend and after his brilliant Brno win in tricky conditions he showed his skill again to take the third pole position of his career, bringing huge cheers of appreciation from the crowd.

Cal Crutchlow: “I looked at the lap time and I saw everyone else was maybe a bit slower, so I stopped taking too many risks. I cruised around waiting to see if anyone would go faster, but then the rain was getting worse. I saw a few other guys crash and I think I took the risk at the right time. I think over one or two laps we're maybe a bit stronger than our actual position but I think with the hard race tyre we're aiming for the top five. I think tomorrow in a dry race we can be competitive and I'll do my best to battle at the front. I really appreciate the reception I've had, and it's so nice to see so many people here to watch what we consider to be the best sport in the world - motorcycle racing.”
