Marquez on Misano: "I expect to fight for the podium"

Championship leader ready for a showdown behind enemy lines

Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) has an incredible record at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, taking three consecutive wins in the lower classes before a P2 on his MotoGP™ debut, one error in 2014 and then a stunningly-judged win in mixed conditions in 2015. Marquez, who let loose a little in Silverstone as he battled Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) and Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) for P2, still left the UK with a 50 point advantage in the title despite a run off in the latter laps that saw him cross the line in P4.

Although 2015 proved the contrary can be possible, the weather for the Gran Premio TIM di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini should be better, giving the Repsol Honda rider more time to prepare his bike - and his tyre choice.

Marc Marquez: “All in all we got an okay result in England, as even though we didn’t make the ideal choice with the front tyre, in the end we lost just three points. Now we head to Misano, which is quite a different track as it is twisty and slow. In San Marino I expect to fight again for the podium if we work well during the weekend. I’m happy to go racing in Italy, where I really hope the weather will be nice and give us the chance to make the most of every session.”
