Petrucci: “It was a great race!”

Italian stages an impressive comeback in the Spanish GP

Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Racing) started thirteenth in Jerez after just missing the cut to Q2, but the Italian pushed hard in the race to come back from a tough start to cross the line in an impressive P7 – just behind Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP).

In the test on Monday, Petrucci put in another 57 laps of the Circuito de Jerez, lining up P15. Next up is Le Mans, where ‘Petrux’ crossed the line in seventh in 2016 – another notable top ten for the former podium finisher.

Danilo Petrucci: “It was a great race. I’m really happy. It was just a shame to start so badly. I struggled a lot in the first lap then I started recovering positions thanks to the good race pace. I had a good fight with Rossi but in those two laps I lost contact with Viñales. I tried to recover by pushing hard and I came really close but there was no margin to try an attack. I thank the team: they did a great job with the bike.”
