Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) took back the top spot at the end of FP1 at the GoPro Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, just heading Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) by less than half a tenth. Then the rain came down in the afternoon, meaning no one could improve, and the points leader remains top by the end of action.
Still lacking the feeling in the front from last season at the venue, ‘DesmoDovi’ is nevertheless positive – and has frontrunning pace.
Andrea Dovizioso, P1: “In general today was a positive day: I’m very pleased with the way we started this morning and in the dry we confirmed the positive trend of the last few races. In the afternoon, on a wet track, we struggled a bit like the start of the session at Assen and so we still have to work a bit there. At any rate we managed to improve during the session and in the end, when I pushed hard, I was lapping just like the fastest riders but I still don’t have the feeling at the front that I had last year.”
