Rossi leads the way to Q2

Italian strikes back straight to the top

After overnight doubts about the weather, FP3 allowed some good dry running and created a spectacular shootout at the end of the session – with the field headed by Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) as the first man of the weekend into the 1:59 bracket. Rossi had been the big name provisionally out of Q2 by the end of Friday. Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) took second, ahead of Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team), who completed the top three.

Friday’s fastest and Championship challenger Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) took fourth, just ahead of teammate Jorge Lorenzo, with Jack Miller (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) – the first improver of the day – taking sixth.

Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) is the next man through in P7, ahead of Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar) after a late charge. A muted session for Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) put the Championship leader in ninth, just moving through alongside the final man in the top ten – Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP).
