The Gran Premio Red Bull de España welcomed some very important guests over the weekend, with those responsible for the Chang International Circuit in attendance to observe the on-goings of a Grand Prix.
Tanaisiri Chanvitayarom, Managing Director at Buriram, explained why they came to visit the Circuito de Jerez. “We’ve had a lot of support from Dorna, which is fantastic. A reason we’re here is to discuss preparation. Apart from our side as the promotor, the fans are excited, they watch all the races and this season the fight is so exciting – they’re all waiting for the race weekend.”
MotoGP™ tested at the Thai layout for the first time in February, attracting thousands of fans over the two days – something Chanvitayarom is looking forward to again when the paddock heads to Thailand for round 15 in October. “We got a lot of fans and it was the first time we had MotoGP™ in Thailand, it was a remarkable test. The fans were all excited, we had full grandstands. From the test day to race day everyone is talking about MotoGP™! We also have a lot of activities it Bangkok, Buriram and other cities where fans come together to share it and talk about it.”
Ticket sales have, unsurprisingly, been selling very well, with Chanvitayarom explaining how it’s a dream come true for the people of Thailand to host a motorcycle Grand Prix. “The first Grand Prix will be crowded with people, everybody in Thailand has been waiting for MotoGP™ for many years and now it’s a dream come true for Thai fans!”
