Upgrades all round as manufacturers try new things in Brno

The Automotodrom Brno looks set to be a thrilling encounter, and if adding in upgrades has been anything to go by, it will only get better

Innovation and development are at the forefront of the MotoGP™ World Championship, with the Monster Energy Grand Prix České republiky showcasing the fine art of technological advancement. This year at the Automotodrom Brno, there’s a whole raft of updates and upgrades being brought to the track, and with the post-round test on Monday, it could be a crucial weekend of racing and testing combined.

Starting with the reigning Champion, Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) is still pondering which chassis to use for the weekend. The Spaniard tried both at the Sachsenring and – despite liking his new one – opted for the old one. But will he do the same this weekend? His carbon reinforced chassis will either be taken up for the first time in race trim or put back in the lorry for another day.

It was a day of aerodynamic fairing updates for the Ducati Team, as both Andrea Dovizioso and Danilo Petrucci look to get back to winning ways at the Czech Republic venue. Having won at Brno in 2018, Ducati chase their first back-to-back Monster Energy Grand Prix České republiky wins since 2006 and 2007. Will their updates allow them to compete? Alex Rins (Team Suzuki ECSTAR) will also be eager to get back on top of the box, as he undertakes his first runs with his updated fairing – something that he has expressed his delight at.

Don’t forget, expect more updates on Monday with the post-round test, where even more things will be tried and tested.
