SKY Racing Team VR46’s Luca Marini jumped to the top of the timesheets with his final lap of Sunday morning’s Moto2™ Warm Up at the Shell Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix. The Italian has his eye on bagging back-to-back victories in Malaysia after he took his debut Grand Prix win at the Sepang International Circuit twelve months ago.
Second fastest was FlexBox HP40’s Augusto Fernandez, who successfully bounced back from his worst Saturday of the year having qualified on row six of the grid for the first time in 2019. Ahead of potentially claiming the Moto2™ World Championship later today, EG 0,0 Marc VDS’ Alex Marquez ended up third. The top five was completed by ONEXOX TKKR SAG Team’s Tetsuta Nagashima and Dynavolt Intact GP’s Marcel Schrötter.
Both Andrea Locatelli (Italtrans Racing Team) and Iker Lecuona (American Racing KTM) had less than ideal starts to their race day after both crashed out, without injury, during the 20-minute session. Our final champion of 2019 could be crowned later today, but there are three riders still in contention hoping to take it to Valencia. Don’t miss the Moto2™ race in Malaysia at 13:20 local time (GMT+8).
