Zarco and Rins rescue late Q2 places

There was disappointment for Enea Bastianini as the rookie rider crashed out of the session while sitting in P1

Johann Zarco (Pramac Racing) topped the Q1 times at the Monster Energy British Grand Prix thanks to a 1:59.288, which gave him 0.221s to spare over Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar), who will join him in the battle for pole in Q2.

As the two crossed the line for the final time, Enea Bastianini (Avintia Esponsorama) sat top of the timesheets, but the Italian narrowly misses out after crashing in the closing stages of the session. There was also disappointment for Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda Idemitsu) and Miguel Oliveira (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) also, with neither of the established riders able to threaten the top times.

Up next is Q2, where the premier class will duke it out for pole position at the British Grand Prix.
