MotorLand Aragon & Dorna sign contract extension until 2026

The new deal confirms MotoGP™ will head to Alcañiz for at least three Grands Prix between 2022 and 2026

Dorna Sports is delighted to confirm a new five-year deal has been agreed with MotorLand Aragon, making sure the spectacular circuit remains on the MotoGP™ calendar until 2026. Both Arturo Aliaga, Vice President of Aragon and MotorLand President, and Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta signed the contract extension on Tuesday evening meaning the Alcañiz circuit's presence in MotoGP™ reaches 16 years by the end of the current agreement.

Having first hosted a Grand Prix in 2010, MotorLand Aragon has been the scene to some memorable MotoGP™ moments down the years, none more so than 2021's titanic battle between Ducati Lenovo Team's Francesco Bagnaia and Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez. The Italian finally got the better of the eight-time World Champion on the final lap to secure a debut premier class win.

The new deal will see the Gran Premio de Aragon on the calendar for at least three occasions up to 2026, including this year's Round 16 of the MotoGP™ World Championship between the 16th and 18th of September.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna Sports CEO: "We are delighted to be in Aragon. In the two very difficult years that we have been through, the presence of Aragon and its help to make the two Grands Prix in 2020 and the Grand Prix in 2021 has been very important to be able to move forward. We will be in Aragon for as long as Aragon wants. We would like to be in Aragon always."

Arturo Aliaga, Vice President of Aragon and MotorLand President: "This signature is an unequivocal sign of the Government of Aragon's commitment to the Alcañiz circuit. We cannot forget that it is a circuit that enjoys great international prestige and extensive experience in the organisation of this type of event. We must go further as well, because the celebration of these great Grands Prix entails a significant repercussion, creating an enormous boost both in the territory and in economic activity, whilst also projecting the image of Aragon throughout the world."
