Foggia sets the pace in FP1 at Sepang

Leopard Racing’s Dennis Foggia has set the fastest lap in FP1 for Round 19 of the Moto3™ World Championship at the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia. The Italian was on top for much of the 40-minute session and his late 2:12.226 around the Sepang International Circuit saw him edge Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max’s Ayumu Sasaki by just 0.070 seconds. Then, however, it was a big gap to the rest, with Jaume Masia (Red Bull KTM Ajo) third on a 2:12.851, ahead of Riccardo Rossi (SIC58 Squadra Corse) on a 2:12.990 and newly crowned World Champion Izan Guevara (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team) on a 2:13.092.

Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets - MSI) took sixth, from Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets - MSI), Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Ajo), Sergio Garcia (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team), and local wildcard Syarifuddin Azman (VisionTrack Racing Team). With Guevara having already secured the lightweight class crown, eyes will be on Garcia and Foggia, who are split by just two points in the battle for second in the Championship. A notable outside the provisional Q2 cut-off is Tatsuki Suzuki (Leopard Racing) in 17th, while Scott Ogden (VisionTrack Racing Team) was declared fit after a crash at Phillip Island last weekend and was classified 19th in FP1 in Sepang.
