Acosta smashes lap record ahead of Q2

The Spaniard dominated P3 to go top at KTM's home track

Saturday's action at the CryptoDATA Motorrad Grand Prix von Österreich started with utter dominance from the Moto2™ Championship leader, as Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) left no stone unturned in a demolition job that saw him annihilate the lap record by 0.527s with a 1:33.523. Somkiat Chantra (IDEMISTU Honda Team Asia) also dipped under the previous record to take P2 0.297s back, with his teammate Ai Ogura rounding out the top three.  

Albert Arenas (Red Bull KTM Ajo) is also enjoying life at KTM's home track as he took P4 on the combined timings ahead of Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing). Jake Dixon (Autosolar GASGAS Aspar Team) finished just outside the top five in P6 ahead of Filip Salac (QJMotor Gresini Moto2™). Championship leader Tony Arbolino (Elf MarcVDS Racing Team) grabbed a Q2 spot but will be looking for big improvements from P8 ahead of Aron Canet (Pons Wegwow Los40) and Manuel Gonzalez (Correos Pregpago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp) who rounded out the top 10. 

The final automatic Q2 places went to Zonta van den Goorberg (Fietn Olie GP), Fermin Aldeguer (CAG SpeedUp), Sam Lowes (Elf MarcVDS Racing Team), and Alonso Lopez (CAG SpeedUp).
