Ducati rack up the record tally in Barcelona!

Bagnaia's pole position not only set a new lap record but equalled Ducati's longest pole streak since 2008!

It's been a weekend filled with action at the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya. The 11th round of the 2023 season has seen records broken as well as some incredible racing action! Find out more in 10 things you need to know ahead of race day at the Catalan Grand Prix!

1-   Championship leader Bagnaia qualified on pole for the 17th time in MotoGP™, setting a new all-time lap record in Catalunya. On his 16 previous poles, he went on to finish on the podium on 11 occasions (including seven wins)

2-   This is Ducati’s seventh successive pole in MotoGP™, a sequence that started in France, equalling their longest pole sequence from 2008 (with Casey Stoner from Catalunya to San Marino) and from Aragon in 2021 to Qatar in 2022. This is also the 51st successive race with at least one Ducati in the top three in qualifying.

3-   On pole last year, Espargaro qualified second, which is the second time he qualified within the top three so far this year along with his pole in Jerez. He took his maiden Sprint win to become the sixth different Sprint winner so far, and will now be aiming to win for the third time in MotoGP™ on Sunday, after Argentina 2022 and Silverstone this year.

4-   Viñales has qualified fourth for his second-best qualifying result so far this season after he qualified second last time out in Austria. He finished P3 in the Sprint, and he is in the running to make MotoGP™ history on Sunday by taking Grand Prix wins with three different factories (after already winning with Suzuki and Yamaha).

5- Zarco finished P7 in the Sprint after a VR46-style move on Bezzecchi at the final corner. If he finishes on the podium on Sunday, he will have scored five podiums this year and 2023 will be his best season regarding podiums since he stepped up to MotoGP™ in 2017. He is still missing that maiden MotoGP™ win.

6- Di Giannantonio has qualified eighth for his best qualifying result since he qualified fifth in Germany last year. He finished P13 in the Sprint, and he will be aiming to finish on the podium for the first time in MotoGP™. His best result so far is P8 scored in Germany last year and in France this year.

7-   On the podium in the last two races, Binder has qualified ninth for his fifth top nine in qualifying so far this year. He finished P4 in the Sprint and will now be aiming to score his ninth podium in MotoGP™ to become the South African rider with most podiums in the premier class.

8-   Bezzecchi has qualified 10th for his second-worst qualifying result so far this season after Jerez when he qualified 13th. He finished P8 in the Sprint, but he will be aiming to take his third MotoGP™ win on Sunday, along with Argentina and France this year.

9-   Bastianini has qualified 11th for his best qualifying result since he qualified 11th at the German GP. However, he will start from 14th in the Grand Prix race after being handed a 3-place grid penalty for being slow on the line in Practice. He scored one point in the Sprint finishing P9.

10- After passing through Q1, Marquez has qualified 12th for his best qualifying result since he qualified seventh in Germany earlier this year (but missed the race), although he will start from 11th following Bastianini’s penalty.
