Veijer fastest as Holgado faces Q1

With qualifying looming the Dutchman heads the field ahead of Masia and Nepa

Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) is really beginning to find his feet in the Moto3™ World Championship as he topped Saturday morning's Practice 3 session, with his 1:48.003 placing him as the fastest rider on the combined practice times. As usual, the fast laps came flying in during the final five minutes of the session. Jaume Masia (Leopard Racing) did set a time faster than Veijer but a crash for Ivan Ortola (Angeluss MTA Team) brought out the yellow flags seeing Masia's lap cancelled – as well as a few others. Stefano Nepa (Angeluss MTA Team) rounded out the top three, with the big news being that the Championship leader Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) failed to make the Q2 cut in 15th position.

The top 14 are now decided ahead of qualifying with most of the big hitters securing themselves Q2 spots. It was a day for the Rookies as Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) enjoyed solid form in Practice 3 to take P4 ahead of Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) and Ivan Ortola.

Other riders who consolidated automatic Q2 places include Kaito Toba (SIC58 Sqaudra Corse), Filippo Farioli (Red Bull KTM Tech3), and Tatsuki Suzuki (Leopard Racing) who finished 7th, 8th, and 9th respectively.

Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) rounded out the top 10 ahead of Matteo Bertelle (Rivacold Snipers Team) and Riccardo Rossi (SIC58 Sqaudra Corse) who took 11th and 12th. David Alonso (GASGAS Aspar Team), and Romano Fenati (Rivacold Snipers Team) took the final two Q2 spots with Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets – MSI) failing to make the cut in P20.

Next up for Moto3™ is qualifying at 12:50 local time (GMT +2), in the meantime you can keep up to date with everything from the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya on motogp.com!
