Acosta draws first blood in San Marino

The Championship leader stamped his authority on Friday morning's Practice 1 ahead of Ogura and Vietti

Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) meant business at the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino as he took full control of Friday morning's Practice 1 session. The KTM prodigy put in consistently fast laps to control the session from the top, setting a 1:36.488 to secure P1. Ai Ogura (IDEMISTU Honda Team Asia) took a tumble through the Turn 5 gravel trap, but had already done enough to secure P2 ahead of the hard-charging home favourite Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing).

Joe Roberts (Italtrans Racing Team) got a good start to his weekend as he sat 0.382s away from Acosta in P4, with Bo Bendnseyder (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team) rounding out the top 5.

Tony Arbolino (Elf MarcVDS Racing Team) started his home GP with a P9 as he hopes to claw back points on his title rival Acosta. His teammate Sam Lowes rounded out the top 10 with the 3rd-placed man in the Championship Jake Dixon (Inde GASGAS Aspar Team) finishing P11.

With just 26 points splitting the title-fighting duo, it's all to play for in Moto2™. Can Arbolino reignite his Championship charge on home soil? Make sure to tune in as the story unfolds with Practice 2 at 14:05 local time (GMT +2).
