Moto2™ : Acosta holds firm as Arbolino faces Misano Q1

The Spaniard's Friday time remained untouched on Saturday as attentions turn to qualifying

Despite big improvements from the Moto2™ field, Pedro Acosta's (Red Bull KTM Ajo) 1:35.921 - which put him half a second clear on Friday - remained unmatched during Saturday's P3 at the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino. The Championship leader looks in fine fettle with his title rival Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) facing Q1 after only managing P19 on combined times. Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing) got the closest to the Spaniard as the Italian finished 0.157s away in P2. Aron Canet (Pons Wegow Los40) jumped up to P3 on Saturday after finding over half a second compared to his Friday lap time.

It's as close as ever in Misano as Jake Dixon (Inde GASGAS Aspar Team) was only 0.003s back from the top three in P4, with the Brit setting an identical laptime to Somkiat Chantra (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) who took P5. Joe Roberts (Italtrans Racing) has shown glimpses of promise this weekend and will compete for pole in Q2 after taking P6 ahead of Barry Baltus (Fieten Olie Racing GP), Filip Salac (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™ ) and Jeremy Alcoba (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2™ ) who brought out the red flags with 25 seconds remaining.

Rounding out the top 10 was Alonso Lopez (+Ego SpeedUp) with Ai Ogura (IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia) in P11. Marcos Ramirez (American Racing) took P12 ahead of the wildcard Mattia Pasini (Fieten Olie Racing GP) with Sam Lowes (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) snatching up the final Q2 spot.

Fermin Aldeguer (+Ego SpeedUp) will face Q1 after finishing in P15. The Spaniard will be joined by Bo Bendsneyder (Pertamina Mandalika SAG Team) and Zonta van den Goorbergh (Fieten Olie Racing GP), as well as Manuel Gonzalez (Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 MasterCamp) and Sergio Garcia (Pons Wegow Los40) who suffered a Turn 13 crash.

Make sure to tune in for Moto2™ Qualifying which is at 13:45 local time (GMT +2)!
