Kratochwil creates history at Round 6
Fynn Kratochwil (MASS SPORTS Racing by JRP Motorsport) stole the spotlight at the iconic Nürburgring, with the German rider becoming the 2025 Northern Talent Cup champion in style. Tobias Kitzbichler (Racingteam Kitzbichler) joined him on the podium, showing convincing pace after missing out on victory by just 0.118s. The #38 added a further 20 points to his collection, beating Thias Wenzel (Kiefer Racing), who sets his sights on the runner-up spot this season.
Kratochwil started Race 1 from prime real estate, with the #8 securing pole position following an impressive lap in qualifying. The German star made the perfect launch, holding the advantage at Turn 1 on the opening lap. It was an intense group fight in the opening laps, with Robin Siegert (Motorace Academy Germany) attempting his first move on Lap 2. Roman Durdis (FS12 Racing Team) was also on the move, showing to be a real threat with an incredible move at Turn 1.
Alessandro Binder (ASR Binder Team) was handed a double Long Lap in the early stages, adding to Race 1’s drama. The #85 was not the only rider to receive a penalty, with Anina Urlass (Kiefer Racing) later receiving a single Long Lap. Meanwhile, Kratochwil would lose some time at the head of the field, briefly dropping back to fourth as he began to decide his plan over the 16-lap race. Further back, there were issues for Ruben Nijland (NijlandRacing88), who was forced to pull into the pits – dropping one lap behind.
Eyes were locked to the action in the closing laps, with Siegert leading the field onto the final lap of action on Saturday. It was an 11-rider group as Kratochwil once again worked his way through the field, climbing back into a podium position at Turn 1. The #8 soon set his sights on Kitzbichler, finding his opportunity to pounce not only on Kitzbichler but also on Siegert to claim P1 in the final sector after an unbelievable move. The victory was enough for Kratochwil to clinch the 2025 Northern Talent Cup title, making him the first rider to become champion before the final round.
Kitzbichler finished second, while Siegert briefly secured third on the road. However, the result would change post-race, with the #11 being disqualified due to being under the minimum weight, promoting Wenzel to third. Urlass impressed in fourth, pulling off a strong recovery ride as Durdis took the final spot inside the top five. Lorenzo Pontillo (Belgian Motorcycle Academy) crossed the flag in sixth, beating Tamas Lukacs (Team Lukas Pesek), Tom Kuil (Kuil Racing Team) and Swan Emprin (Swan96), with Domi Pekkanen (DPR Team) rounding out the top 10.
Kratochwil becomes king of the ring
Fynn Kratochwil doubled up in Germany, snatching victory in a dramatic finale, with a photo finish seeing Race 2 decided by just 0.005s. The #8 added another win to his growing tally, edging out Alessandro Binder, who delivered an incredible ride after a challenging Saturday at the Nürburgring. Binder wasn’t the only rider seeking redemption on Sunday, with Robin Siegert claiming the final spot on the podium, ending his weekend on a positive note.
Kratochwil once again started from pole position, earning the holeshot on the run down to Turn 1. The #8 wasted no time putting the hammer down, immediately impressing as he looked to stretch the field in the opening laps of Race 2. Tobias Kitzbichler stayed glued to his rear tyre, while Tamas Lukacs and Robin Siegert began to fight for third position in the opening stages. Another blockbuster was on the horizon, with the front group beginning to increase in size as the fighting continued.
Drama wasn’t far away, with Kitzbichler crashing out from second position, ending his hopes of a podium finish and valuable points scored. The incident promoted Wenzel into second place, with the #17 now setting his sights on the newly crowned NTC champion in Germany. Binder and Urlass were now in the podium fight, leaving Lukacs and Siegert to battle for the final top five spot.
The NTC continued to deliver breathtaking action, as a small mistake from Kratochwil dropped him back to fourth. Heading into the final laps, Race 2 remained wide open, with Binder leading the charge in the hunt for victory. Siegert stormed into the lead at the start of the final lap, before one final surprise from Kratochwil, catapulting him into the lead. Everything was decided on the run to the line, ending in a photo finish for victory.
Kratochwil took victory from Binder and Siegert, with the pair completing a podium which was split by a mere 0.062s. Kiefer Racing ended the weekend with another strong points haul after Urlass and Wenzel rounded out the top five positions. Lukacs earned sixth as Lorenzo Pontillo and Roman Durdis rounded out the top eight positions on Sunday. Meanwhile, Domi Pekkanen and Tom Kuil took the final spots inside the top 10, while Valdemar Mellgren (Nordgren Racing) suffered a late fall.
