Dutchman Jasper Iwema made his debut in the 125cc World Championship with two guest appearances in 2007 and 2008, eventually becoming a permanent rider, and in 2012 he debuted the new Moto3™ category, where he was present until 2014. The following years, Iwema changed scenes and competed, until now, in the skilful races of the Ice Spweedway World Championship. For 2021, Iwema has been confirmed as the new Pons Racing rider in the electric class, in which he will team up with current MotoE™ World Cup Champion, Spanish Jordi Torres.
