レッドブル・ＫＴＭ・ファクトリー・レーシングのポル・エスパルガロは、第１４戦アラゴンＧＰのフリー走行３で今季１１度目の転倒を喫した際に左鎖骨を骨折。バルセロナ市内の大学病院に搬送され、手術を受けることになった。
チャンピオンシップのメディカルスタッフ、チャビエル・ミル医師は、「左肩に直接な外傷を受けました。チェコで亀裂骨折した同じ場所です。火曜の診断で完治を確認しましたが、今回のハードクラッシュにより、手術が必要です。今日中に手術をします。次戦のタイに間に合うようにトライしましょう」と、説明した。
