Marc Marquez wins 2019 Mundo Deportivo Sportsman of the Year

The eight-time World Champion picked up the award at the 72nd Grand Gala de Mundo Deportivo

For the fourth time in six years, Repsol Honda Team’s Marc Marquez was crowned Spanish Sportsmen of the Year at the Grand Gala de Mundo Deportivo.

Held at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya on Monday 27 January, over 800 guests watched the eight-time World Champion pick up the accolade for the second year in a row as won the men’s category ahead of basketballer Marc Gasol, world champion with Spain and NBA star with the Toronto Raptors, Tennis’ Rafa Nadal, who won his 12th Roland Garros title in 2019, and golfer Jon Rahm, the number one ranked European player.

His 2019 award, coupled with his wins in 2014, 2016 and 2018, sees Marquez draw level with the great Nadal with a total of four Mundo Deportivo awards. And it was also an award-winning evening for Alex Marquez, the MotoGP™ rider picking up the Special Champions-Telefonica Trophy.
