Now 30 years of age, Scassa started his career in 1999. He became the 2003 champion of Superstock 600 in Italy, then changing to the Superstock class. In 2007 he began a 'superbike' era in the American AMA Championship and raced in the World Superbike Championship in 2009 and 2010, the first season for Kawasaki and the second for Ducati. He achieved his best of seventh position twice. Luca returned to WSS in 2011, winning the first two races of the season. After a series of problems, he ended the championship in the fifth place with three wins and four podium finishes to his name. After one year in the British Superbike Championship, Luca turned back to WSS, joining Kawasaki Intermoto Ponyexpress. At the 2013 Aragón Grand Prix, Scassa stood in for the injured Karel Abraham at Cardion AB Motoracing. Having missed out on a points-scoring debut by only two positions, he was confirmed to remain with the Czech outfit for the rest of the 2013 MotoGP™ season.
