Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) topped Q1 to move through to fight for the top 12 positions on the grid at Phillip Island, joined by Bradley Smith (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). Alex Rins (Team Suzuki Ecstar) just missed out, and Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Racing) crashed - rider ok.
Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) had a tough session after suffering a big crash and spraining his ankle in FP3, and will be looking for more on Sunday.
